In 2011 I became interested in genealogy when I decided to find out about the people who are buried at the Bible Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Bible Grove, Missouri. I didn’t have much success searching for information online, but I stumbled upon FindAGrave.com. Once I got started on FindAGrave, I was hooked! I do all of my research at libraries locally and none of my material is sourced online.
By now I have several thousand obituaries and much more information and have offered many obits to those who manage memorials on FindAGrave, and because of that, some of the obits that I have will be found on FindAGrave. However, some people do not add obits to their memorials so I finally decided that it might be more effective if I started a blog where I could just enter the information for anybody to view. All information that I am adding to my blog is from 50 years ago, and before. None of it is sourced online. I do not want to offer subscriptions. I want the information to be free and available for anyone to search through.
My blog may not be a totally unique idea, as there could be someone else who is doing the same thing I am doing, but most people will not. I continue to spend time at the library looking up information and time at home putting names to my photos and typing stuff up so other people can easily find information that could help them with their own family search.
I continue to work at organizing my obituaries, death notices and other information and would be glad to look through my files if anyone has a request for information about a particular person or family. Most of my information centers on Scotland and Adair Counties and surrounding areas in Missouri and relatives of people from that area. I am always willing to help with genealogy research when I can.
I will be spending time researching to add to, correct and/or complete information that I post to my blog. I also have other information that I hope to add as time goes by.
Linda
